Serving God – Serving Nations

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the poor in Guatemala.

Our teams work on humanitarian projects and minister to the spiritual needs of those we serve.

Our Story

Love Made Real Ministries is a non-profit organization that was founded by Guy Robitaille and his late wife Shirley. It became a registered charity in Canada on April 1, 2011. The ministry’s desire is to show the love of God by improving the quality of life of the poor in Guatemala, as it is written in 1 John 3:18: Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions (NLT).

Love Made Real began its work in Guatemala in 2008, sending teams to build homes with an organization called “From Houses to Homes”. In 2010, Guy met Hilmar and Carmen Avila, and began working with Hilmar’s ministry “Senderos De Luz” in the small village of La Pinada. Teams built a three-story structure there that housed a Feeding Centre, a church facility, sewing classes, and a carpentry workshop. As well, Love Made Real purchased an adjacent building that Hilmar is currently using for a preschool program and a playground for the village children.

Currently Love Made Real is supporting the work of nationals Jorge and Maria Muñoz in the village of Santiago, Sacatepéquez, Guatemala. Jorge and Maria run a Feeding Centre that provides nutritional meals for local widows, single mothers, and their children. The Feeding Centre is an important point of connection for our ministry, where we get to know the mothers and their children and the needs of their families.

Over the years, more than 65 teams of volunteers from Canada and the United States have come to Guatemala with Love Made Real to build houses, bathrooms, and kitchens, pour cement floors, install wood stoves, bunkbeds and solar lights, send children to school, provide medical and dental care, and share God’s heart with Guatemala’s poorest – children and single mothers.
